CLUB SPOTLIGHT – AYR CARRICK GC

Ayr Carrick Golf Club

A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR CLUB?

We are a well-established Club which is affiliated to Scottish Golf (SG) and the Ayrshire Golf Association (AGA). Originally formed as The Carrick Lodge Hotel GC in the mid 1970’s we remained under this name until an enforced change of base led to a move to The Chestnuts Hotel in the early 2000’s and this resulted in the club having a name change to the present Ayr Carrick GC. We have recently moved again to The Balgarth Pines which has resulted in a pleasing influx of new members, but we have plenty of capacity to welcome even more new members.

WHO CAN JOIN?

Our entire membership is currently made up of adult male golfers, but we are open to applications from golfers of any age or sex.

WHICH COURSES AND DAYS DO YOU HOLD COMPETITIONS ON?

During the summer golf season, most competitions take place over Belleisle, but we attempt to play most of the courses available on the Golf South Ayrshire Season Ticket at least once during this period. Members can play on either Thursday or Sunday. During the winter months, we hold monthly medals over Seafield but still try to utilise the other Golf South Ayrshire courses during this period. In addition, we hold 3 annual outings in Spring, Summer and at Christmas. These are usually played on a Saturday.

DO YOU HAVE OTHER OPENS, CLUB CHAMPS, TEAM MATCHES ETC?

The club runs annual knockout competitions for singles and pairs with the winners going through to the (AGA) knockout competitions. We also have a third knockout competition which has a greensomes (alternate shot) format. We hold annual Club Championships for both 1st and 2nd class handicappers. These are qualified for via summer medals with the top 8 in each classification qualifying for the knockout stage. We also arrange annual grudge matches against Abbotsford GC and The Chase GC and the post-match buffets at the 19th hole are legendary.

WHAT ARE THE OTHER BENEFITS OF JOINING YOUR CLUB?

Membership of our Club is currently £70.00 per year which includes the member specific affiliation fees to (SG) and (AGA). Active members will find that they recoup much of their subscription through the subsidies the Club pays towards Outings, Team Matches and our Annual Smoker which is our Prizegiving Night. Basically, if you play regularly its fabulous value for money. Our new hosts at The Balgarth Pines are introducing a loyalty card which will offer discounts to members who frequent the venue either during golf days or on family occasions.
