Hole 1
Hitting the fairway on the first hole is a must. Anything left or right off the tee will be punished forcing you to lay up on this relatively easy par 5 first hole.

Hole 2
For the more confident golfer, hitting your tee shot down the right hand side of the fairway will leave a shorter second but any tee shot staying on the fairway is a safe one making the green accessible in two. Stay out of the green side bunker short right of the green!!!!!!!!!

Hole 3
With a tight tee shot off the tee and plenty of green side bunkers, hitting a green is a MUST on this hole.

Hole 4
For the longer hitter cutting the corner on this right to left dog-leg hole is an option, however most will need to think about the fairway bunkers which litter this fairway. Once your drive is safely on short grass be aware that this green plays slightly firmer than most on the golf course.

Hole 6
This 385 yard par 4 is relatively straight forward. It has a two tiered fairway and offers two options.Laying up on the upper level by using a shorter club or hitting the driver and trying to make the lower level which in turn will leave only a flick onto the green.

Hole 7
Again this is a must hit green. It is guarded by 5 very deep bunkers around the entire green. Get your yardage right as this green slopes quite severely from back to front.

Hole 8
Relatively straight forward hole and a good birdie chance but don't leave your second shot short right as two pot bunkers will slow your round down.

Hole 9
Most golfers would want to keep their tee shots up the left hand side here avoiding two fairway bunkers up the right. For most the second shot will be straight forward but the front apron of this green is firm and may take an extra bounce or two so beware.

Hole 11
Hitting this fairway is of huge importance, anything to the right is a hand back into the pocket for another golf ball. Beware of the newly planted trees on the left side of the fairway which in a few years will make this fairway seem like a single lane on a six lane motorway!!!

Hole 13
This is the toughest hole on the golf course and with good reason. Getting a good drive away will put you in good stead however if you are on the first level of this two tiered fairway you may have a mountain to contend with. Make sure you are not too close to the slope or you leave yourself a blind second shot with a struggle to get enough club on the ball to make the green.

Hole 16
Watch out for the burn running through this fairway. This risk and reward hole will make or break your round. Longer hitters will be left with a short iron into the green if they carry the burn. Most however will lay up and get close to the burn leaving a slightly longer iron into a relatively large green.

Hole 18

Nearly home. What looks like a straight forward tee shot does come with it's surprises. With two large bunkers at the end of the first tier of this two tiered fairway laying up is essential. Sticking to the left half of the fairway will leave you a perfect line into the final green.

Dalmilling

Hole 2
If you are a confident golfer you can cut the corner of the dog leg for a shorter approach to the green BUT don't over do it or you'll end up out of bounds on the 3rd fairway.

Hole 3
A drivable par 4 for longer hitters but a sensible choice would be an iron to be sure to keep the ball in play.

Hole 5
A tee shot aimed down the left shortens the hole but brings the river into play. A safer tee shot would be played to the right.

Hole 6
There is the potential for a hole in 1 here. A very accurate tee shot is required to avoid the water and trees surrounding the green.

Hole 7
This is the hardest hole on the course. A straight, long tee shot gives the best view of the green. Club selection for your second shot is vital to hit a shallow green.

Hole 9
A drivable par 4 for strong hitters if you can play a long, high tee shot over the treeline. Otherwise a tee shot to the corner of the dog leg leaves a short iron into a well guarded green.

Hole 11
A blind tee shot you must take care to avoid the pond in the middle of the fairway. A cautious approach would be to play short off the tee leaving a straight forward play to the green.

Hole 12
A blind tee shot with an undulating fairway requires a long tee shot for the best view of the green.

Hole 14
The longest hole on the course this par 5 by avoiding the bunkers from the tee gives you a good chance of reaching the green in 2 shots for a potential Eagle.

Hole 16
A good Birdie opportunity. A well guarded green requires a precise approach. Confident golfers might fancy driving the green however the safe option is to play short of the front bunker.

Hole 18
Play this hole long and straight from the tee as hitting the fairway from tee is vital to avoid the trees on your 2nd shot. The approach to the green is hazardous due to the close proximity of the out of bounds area.

A tricky front 9 Keep the ball straight and do not waiver as you will end up in the river, woods or out of bounds. The river takes a number of balls over the year.

Lochgreen

Hole 5
One of the best holes on the course,  with stunning views over Royal Troon and over the sea to the Isle of Arran. This is a tough driving hole as there are bunkers to catch you out on both sides of the fairway, Be sure to take half a club more for your second to clear the bunkers guarding the front of the green.

Hole 6
The first of only 3 tough par three's on the course. A difficult green to hit as it is well protected both left and right by bunkers and a well over the back making club selection vital. Again with beautifull views to the right over to Arran.

Hole 12
In a sheltered part of the course known as "The Loop", surrounded by trees, this is another picturesque hole. Favour the right side of the fairway off the tee to open up the green but beware as there is heavy rough and out of bounds down the left and an oak tree to catch stray  tee shots to the right.

Hole 16
A par 5 with a slight dog leg to the right, a classic risk and reward hole. A drive down the right will give the shortest line into the green but may leave a tough second over a large valley of scrub land. Possible to get up in two for the longer hitters but there is plenty of danger from the tee as there are trees down the right and heather down the left.

Darley

Hole 5
Best hole on the course, a daunting tee shot over a valley of gorse would be best placed down the right of the fairway to open up the green, protected by trees and more gorse. There's a hidden bunker just off the right hand side of the fairway to catch any tee shots trying to go a bit too far to the right. An accurate second is then called for to hit a narrow  target well protected by bunkers at the front.

Hole 7
Another challenging tee shot especially from the medal where  you can't see the fairway! A good tee shot over the gorse favouring the left side of the fairway opens up a small green protected by front bunkers. This hole could play one of the easiest or one of the hardest on the course dependant on the direction of the wind!

Hole 11
Another tough par 4 lined with gorse bushes requires both distance and accuracy. Hitting the fairway is vital to give yourself a chance of hitting this plateau green. Gorse bushes run all the way down the left hand side and on the right a drop off into a valley of yet more gorse and awkward lies. Good luck!

Hole 14
A blind Tee shot here makes this another tough driving hole, a good long drive will give the best chance of holding the green on a second shot over the burn to a small green which slopes from back to front. Better taking that shot on with as short an iron as possible.

Fullarton

Hole 1
The longest and hardest hole on the course, a tough par 4 which requires a long drive down the fairway for the best chance to hit a typically small green protected by a bunker front right. Don't get discouraged with a bogey here, there's plenty birdie chances to come!

Hole 10
A good par 4 with a narrow fairway lined with heather. Beautifull views from the tee looking back over the rooftops of Troon

Hole 12
Tough par 3, measuring 182 yards from the medal tee. Club selection is important here to hit this plateau green protected by bunkers at the front with run offs both left and right and over the back.  A par here is a good score any day of the week!

Hole 15
When it's running  hard and fast in the summer, the long hitters can drive this short par 4. An accurate drive down a ribbon like fairway leaves you with the option of flying the ball all the way onto the bowl shape green or to use the slope to run it down to the pin, which way will work best for you£

Seafield

Hole 1
Tough opening hole on this shorter golf course. With an elevated tee shot choosing the right club is essential. Anything short of the green will feed away to the left and into rough on this right to left angled fairway.

Hole 2
Put that wood away!! Play an iron down the left hand side of this fairway for a good view at the green, anything on the right half of the fairway will leave you blocked out. On the second shot you need to negotiate a burn, after which this firm green is relatively unprotected.

Hole 5
GO FOR IT!!!! Super birdie chance, the only protection that this holes offers are trees down the left and a two tiered green.

Hole 6
Risk and reward. Lay up on this blind left to right dog-leg hole or be greedy and take the Tiger line straight at the green. Beware of the out of bounds wall which runs the entire length of the hole on the left hand side.

Hole 7
Relatively straight forward tee shot. Beware of the second shot though, anything long will send the ball back to you or have the ball resting against the out of bounds wall.

Hole 8
Must hit fairway hole. Anything left or right of the fairway is in the thick rough which will bring the bunker in the middle of the fairway into play when trying to hit the green in two.

Hole 9
Really tough par 3, hitting the green requires a bit of skill or luck. Green slopes from front to back. 3 will seem like a birdie on this hole.

Hole 12
Pretty straight forward par 4 apart from the out of bounds running the length of the left hand side of this hole and wispy rough running up the right.

Hole 13
Stroke 1 and longest hole on the course. A good strong drive is essential, this will still leave you a lengthy second into a slightly raised and narrow green. Beware of the out of bounds wall lurking in the background.

Hole 14
Good birdie chance. With an elevated tee shot the green looks well within range on this short par 4. Steer clear of any shot going left or 3 off the tee is imminent!!

Hole 15
Shorter par 3 but don't let it fool you. Club choice is essential with a burn running across the front of the green. Rather an extra club in hand than wet feet.

Hole 18

Almost there. This 321 yard par 4 is a sharp dog-leg left to right with out of bounds running up the right hand side. Once the fairway has been hit beware of the pot bunker short right of the green where many a scorecard has been ruined.
