General Information

Welcome to Golf South Ayrshire and a choice of 8 courses with a course to suit all abilities. Three courses are in Troon namely Lochgreen, Darley and Fullarton. These 3 courses play alongside Royal Troon, Portland and Barassie to form a group of six courses that totally surround the famous golfing town.

Although Lochgreen is predominantly a links type course, the layout is truly varied with holes eleven to fourteen being of parkland character. Darley is ideally suited for the golfer who relishes a challenge. Although not as long as Lochgreen, Darley offers a tough test demanding the most accurate of drives. To play to your handicap here you will have played very well. Fullarton is less than 5,000 yards long but provides endless enjoyment for golfers of more modest ability or those looking for a morning warm-up. With deceptively tight and testing greens, here is where to sharpen up your short game.

Only a short drive South brings you to Ayr Dalmilling which is a delightful course in the heart of Burns Country. The River Ayr borders the southern end of the course with some of its tributary burns adding interest to the early holes, especially the sixth, a 135-yard par three that is virtually surrounded by water.

Still in Ayr, within the Belleisle Estate you will find Belleisle and Seafield. Belleisle was designed by James Braid and is arguably the finest public parkland course in the United Kingdom. Belleisle boasts beech tree lined and extra long fairways interlaced by the Curtecan Burn, combining natural landscape features with spectacular views to the Isle of Arran. Seafield offers a classic combination of links and parkland that will test the skills and talents of even the most experienced golfer.

South of Ayr lies the 9 hole course at Maybole which is a delightful course in the heart of Burn’s Country with splendid views over the Carrick Hills. This rather hilly course boasts undulating fairways and small, well protected greens which call for shot making of a high standard.

Last but not least comes Girvan which shares the same stunning views towards Ailsa Craig as its illustrious neighbour Turnberry. Girvan was designed in 1902 by James Braid and has had few alterations since. It is truly a journey of interest – the exposed first eight holes are pure Scottish links, immediately adjacent to the beach, followed by ten holes of parkland providing a variable challenge.

If you feel your game requires some attention then the Professionals at all our courses except Maybole and Girvan can arrange to fine-tune your game ready to take on one of the above listed courses.
